Teen Event: Hobbit Hoopla!

Hey kids! We're having a big event at the library in a couple weeks and I think... no, I'm certain you should know about it.

Originally, I had been planning a holiday craft party for teens. Festive cards, apple cider, ugly sweaters, jingly bells... that kind of thing. But then I brought it up with my awesome teen council members and they had an even better idea!

"LET'S HAVE A HOBBIT PARTY!" they said. The movie The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey comes out that same weekend, so why not get together to rejoice Tolkien-style and party like we're in the third age of Middle Earth?!

Without further ado, I cordially invite each and every one of you to Altadena's first ever:

  Hobbit Hoopla!
Saturday, December 15th @ 2pm
Teens & Tweens (ages 11-17) are invited to
an afternoon of games,
crafts,
prizes
and general f-u-n!

We'll have games (ring toss! hobbit hop!), prizes (movie tickets! books!), crafts (origami rings!), snacks, and even a photo booth for any crazy kids who like to ham it up for the camera with dress up beards and hooded cloaks!

Did I mention we'll have prizes? I did, didn't I? Well, since we're on the subject I'll tell you again about the cool things you could win. First off, you'll get a raffle ticket just for showing up! I'll pick a ticket at random and the winner will walk away with the entire Lord of the Rings book set including a copy of The Hobbit. LOTR trivia and bingo winners will also walk away with prizes, including a couple of movie tickets to see the first film in the new Hobbit trilogy!

This is a win-win deal here, folks. People who come in costume will get extra props, and I imagine will be greatly envied by all party poopers who show up unadorned.

Write it down on your calendars! Don't hesitate! Any questions should be directed my way at the Youth Services reference desk: 626-798-0833 x108.

See you there!
